Planning is well underway for the 2007 Indonesian Rhinos Rugby Lunch which will be held on Saturday June 9 at a major Jakarta Hotel. This will be the third year the IRFU has hosted this luncheon which serves as the major fundraising event for Indonesian Rugby. The 2007 Lunch will feature the Second Test between the All Blacks and France, which may well be a prelude to the RWC Final later in the year and later in the afternoon the Wallabies take on the flamboyant Fijians. Both matches will be shown on the big screens.

The IRFU Board has been busy planning several upcoming rugby events including assisting the ISCI Rugby Club in organising the 2007 Crown Relocations ISCI Jakarta Rugby 10’s on Saturday May 5 and planning the 2007 Indonesian Rhinos Rugby Lunch on Saturday June 9.

A recent significant event for the IRFU was the announcement that Thiess Indonesia would continue as the major sponsors for 2007-08, guaranteeing the IRFU five years of continuous sponsorship support from Thiess.

This year the Sangatta Saracens from East Kalimantan will defend their Crown Relocations ISCI Jakarta Rugby 10’s title on Saturday May 5th against a clutch of old rivals including the ISCI Komodos, Gosowong from Halmahera Island, Balikpapan Bears, West Papua Kotekas, Bandung New Guineans, the youthful JIS Students, ISCI Samurais, Jakarta Bantengs, as well as newcomers from Bali, Aceh and the Nagas from Sumbawa. Leading the charge from overseas are the Tequila Mockingbirds from Hong Kong, whose team motto is One Tequila, Two Tequila, Three Tequila, Floor!

Thiess Indonesia the major sponsors of Indonesian Rugby since 2004, recently announced a 2-year sponsorship deal of the IRFU for 2007 and 2008. This was major achievement for the IRFU Board securing a continuation of Thiess’ financial support, guaranteeing Thiess would remain the major sponsors of the IRFU for 5 years running.
