2008 HSBC a5n INDONESIAN RUGBY SQUAD ANNOUNCED

The Indonesian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) announced on Wednesday May 14, a 30-man squad to take on Cambodia & Lao in upcoming IRB-sanctioned Rugby Tests to be played at the University of Pelita Harapan Stadium , Karawaci.

These two tests are part of the HSBC Asian 5 Nations (a5n) Rugby – Regional Tournament Indonesia 2008, which also includes an opening match between Lao & Cambodia on Saturday July 12. This is the first time rugby international Tests have been played on Indonesian soil.

The Indonesian National Rugby Team, better known as the Rhinos will play Lao on Tuesday July 15 & Cambodia on Saturday July 19 (both matches to kick off at 4pm). Spectators are most welcome to come out & support the Rhinos as they set out to continue their unbeaten run against these two nations following on from their success at the former Asian Division 6 Championships last year in Brunei – the team returned unbeaten after recording strong wins against Lao , Cambodia & Brunei.

Jakarta 10’s 2008

Saturday May 3rd 2008, 8am in the morning. The sun shines across a blue cloudless sky; the chance of rain seems slim. ISCI’s green ‘field of dreams’ is surrounded by colourful banners billowing in the morning breeze, ‘Fancy A Ruck?’ offers the Indonesia Rugby Union one. A myriad of tents surrounds the pitch, which is freshly chalked with half, twenty-two and ten metre lines. The football goals have been moved to one side leaving the ‘H’ shaped posts to the fore. Suddenly the speakers high in the stand crackle into life, ‘…welcome to the 2008 Jakarta Rugby 10s…’.
